Chloe Pilates

Chloe Pilates has long been a cherished part of the Cape Cove community, so as we step into the new year, we sat down with Chloe to talk about her journey with Pilates, her deep connection to nature, and what continues to inspire her.

How did you discover your interest in Pilates and what led you to become a teacher?

I had a lower-back injury when I was younger, and my physio suggested Pilates to help me build strength. At the time I was very fit from running and playing lacrosse, but I wasn’t actually strong. I went to lots of Pilates classes and initially found them quite slow and boring, until I discovered an incredible teacher who taught in a more dynamic, energising way. I noticed the difference almost immediately.

Back then, I ran my own PR and marketing company, but I felt increasingly stuck and unfulfilled. I wanted to do something that genuinely helped people and made a difference, so I decided to train as a Pilates teacher. As soon as I qualified, I started teaching in a gym, and very quickly a hobby became my full-time career. I left my business and committed to Pilates fully, developing a style that blends the discipline of STOTT Pilates (where I trained) with a more dynamic, strength-focused approach. Clients loved feeling that combination of precision and a proper workout.

Thirteen years later, I still absolutely love what I do. Helping people get stronger, recover from injury, and prevent future injuries is incredibly rewarding and I push myself constantly to keep learning, creating new classes (I don’t think I’ve ever taught the same class twice!), and becoming the strongest and most mobile version of myself through movement.

How does nature inspire you?

Nature is my therapy, it’s where I feel happiest, calmest, and most myself. I walk in nature every single day, and it gives me an immediate sense of clarity, peace, and grounding. I’ve also lost a few close friends over the years, and when I’m in the woods, I feel incredibly connected to them. Nature reminds me that we’re all part of something bigger, deeply connected and held.

I’ve always felt this way. I grew up on a farm, with a dad who was a farmer, and being surrounded by fields, woods, and animals shaped who I am. When I’m immersed in nature, I feel at home.

What do you love most about time spent in nature?

What I love most is how instantly it resets me. Nature pulls me out of my head and into the present moment, the sounds, the stillness, the space to breathe. I feel grounded, calm, and reconnected to myself. It’s also where I find inspiration: for my classes, my creativity, and my own wellbeing. Even a short walk can shift my whole day.

What is your favourite way to spend a weekend/free time?

I love walking my dog, either on my own (which feels like a meditation) or with my family. It’s a non-negotiable for me. I also adore cooking; creating recipes with delicious wholefoods feels so therapeutic. And of course, spending time with my boys. They’re everything to me, and protecting that family time is sacred.

How would you describe your style?

Comfort first, always! Luckily my everyday “uniform” is perfect for that: leggings, a cosy jumper, anything soft and easy. On weekends you’ll usually find me by the fire in trackies, and honestly, that’s when I feel my best. But I do love an occasional dress-up moment too. My style is relaxed, comfortable, and effortless with the odd elevated touch.

Do you have any favourite pieces of Cape Cove clothing and why?

I genuinely love everything Cape Cove creates. Their sweatshirts and knitwear are everyday staples for me, and their coats are incredibly warm yet beautifully chic, perfect for teaching Pilates, hosting wild-swim events, or standing on the rugby sidelines. Their shirts are also super flattering and ideal thrown over jeans. They’ve nailed that blend of practical, cosy, and stylish.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be and why?

Sri Lanka or India. I love being by the sea and in the heat. I’m never happier. I adore the culture, the people, the food, the colours… everything about those places makes me feel alive and inspired. I can’t wait to take my boys there one day.
